Learning Disability
What is a Learning Disability?
A learning disability is a reduced intellectual ability and difficulty with everyday activities. Examples include household tasks, socialising or managing money. The disability can affect someone for their whole life.

The level of support someone needs depends on the individual
Someone with a mild learning disability may only need support with things like getting a job. However, someone with a severe or profound learning disability may need full-time care and support with every aspect of their life- they may also have physical disabilities.
People with certain specific conditions can have a learning disability too. For example, people with Down’s syndrome and some people with autism have a learning disability.
At Bethal Manna, we support people with multiple learning disability and often combined with autism and mental health conditions, with behaviour that challenges.
We take pride in supporting people to enjoy happy, healthy and connected lives in the community and the peace of mind our support gives people’s families.
We receive referrals mainly from Care Managers from Local Authorities and directly from Community Mental Health and Learning Disability teams. We assess our clients comprehensively to ensure our care packages meet the needs of the person considering their mental health, physical health, social and occupational needs. We are experienced in working with Commissioners and families to develop support packages that really work for people with learning disability.
All our services are built on the foundation of Active Support and Positive Behaviour Support principles. We support people on short term, medium term and long term until their goals are reached.
